Assurance on DA

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy on Thursday assured a delegation of AP Village Servants' Association that the DA increase for its members would range from Rs.25-50.

Association leaders D. Rajalingam, president, and N.Lakshminarayana, general secretary, said in a statement that Dr. Reddy also assured to promote eligible village servants as revenue secretaries. -Special Correspondent

Changes in PDS

HYDERABAD: Civil Supplies Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy on Thursday effected changes in the supply schedule of commodities made available to consumers through public distribution system, which will ensure that they reach them by the first of every month.

In a press release, he said henceforth every FP shop dealer would have to lift 50 per cent of the stock before the month-end and the balance by 10th of every month. If the rice quota was less than 50 quintals, the dealer would have to lift the entire stock before 10th of every month. Payments would have to be made through demand drafts, with a penalty of Rs. 500, otherwise.

Farmer electrocuted

KURNOOL: A farmer identified as Subbarayudu (30) was electrocuted at Nallagatla in Kurnool district on Thursday. He reportedly went to the field to switch the pumpset when the incident occurred. - Special Correspondent

Two persons held, explosives seized

ADILABAD: Luxettipet police arrested T. Shankar and B. Papayya of Huzurabad in Karimnagar district on Wednesday night and seized from their possession 58 detonators and 16 gelatine sticks. The explosives were being transported illegally and were found during a search of the tractor-compressor which the two were found driving at Luxettipet-Karimnagar cross road. The two accused were sent for remand on Thursday according to CI Shashidhar Raju.-Staff Reporter

BRAOU exams

HYDERABAD: The post- graduate second spell examinations of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) will be held in March.

While the first year examinations (MA- economics, history, political science, public administration, sociology, English, M.Com) will commence from March 14, the second year exams will begin from March 28, according to a release.

The MBA first, second and third year exams will commence from March 14, 28 and April 7 respectively. The last date for submitting filled-in examination forms at the respective study centres for both PG and MBA programmes is February 9.-Staff Reporter
