The Srikakulam District Brahmin Association has decided to intensify its agitation against the film Denikaina Ready, which, it says, has shown Hindu traditions in poor light and made derogatory remarks against Brahmins.

The association had been organising rasta roko and forming human chain near Surya Mahal junction to register its protest for the last few days.

‘Attack on Hinduism’

Association district president Gumma Nagesh and its Youth Wing president V.V.S. Prakash said no one had the right to insult Brahmins in the guise of comedy in films.

“The film is an attack on Hinduism and it hurt the sentiments of the community. The Censor Board has failed to perform its duty,” Mr. Nagesh said.

Mr. Prakash said agitational programmes had been chalked out to expose the cultural atrocities of the Telugu film industry.

The Arasavilli Brahmin Sangham also decided to participate in the protest.

Members of the association Bhaskarabhatla Srirama Shastri and Tenneti Vikrama Sarma asked the government to ban the screening of the movie immediately.
