With sun beating down on the city relentlessly, the mercury levels were kept hovering close to 40 degree Celsius for the past one week.
While the maximum temperatures remained between 38 degree Celsius and 39 degree Celsius, the minimum temperatures stayed between 24 and 27 degree Celsius.
The city recorded a maximum of 38.4 degree Celsius and a minimum of 27.4 degree Celsius on Monday.
“The temperatures are following the normal pattern during this period of the year. As summer season has set in, temperatures are likely to go up further,” a MeT official said.
The temperatures can reach 42 degrees Celsius soon and residents should take all necessary precautions to safeguard themselves from the scorching heat, the official added.
Temperatures remained high in Rayalaseema even after the region received some isolated rains.
