Dr. L. Bullayya College felicitated one of its old students and a boxing coach and former champion B. Appanna Reddy.

When he was a student of the college a long time ago, Appanna Reddy won the first boxing gold for the college when he claimed a title at an all-India boxing meet held in the city. He later joined the Indian Railways under sports quota and remained unbeaten in any competition between 1985 and 1991 and won best boxer awards during the inter-Railway championships. Appanna Reddy was made coach of Waltair Division of the then South Eastern Railway in 1997 and later became chief coach. He trained many champions.

He became boxing secretary of the Division in 1999 and assistant general secretary later. He was made general secretary (sports) in 2007 and won many General Manager and CCM awards. He is working as Chief Ticket Inspector of Waltair Division. He was also on the Andhra University Sport Board.
