District in-charge Minister Botcha Satyanaraya has convened a meeting with the elected representatives of the Congress and Praja Rajyam Party from the district and discussed at length about the election of the local bodies' constituency of Legislative Council here on Wednesday.
Stressing the need for making the party's nominee Gidugu Rudra Raju win the election, Mr. Satyanarayana called upon the party leaders to focus on winning the Council seat. Barring former Minister Pilli Subhash Chandrabose, MLAs Nallamilli Sesha Reddy, D. Chandrasekhar Reddy and Pamula Rajeswari Devi, all other MLAs from the Congress and PRP attended the meeting.
Speaking to the media later, Mr. Satyanarayana exuded confidence that the party would win the MLC seat, as it had the numbers. He faulted the Telugu Desam Party for fielding its candidates without having required majority. To a question, he said there was no candidate from former MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy's camp contesting the election, as Kudupudi Chittabbayi claimed himself as an independent. “Mr. Jagan never announced that he is fielding Mr. Chittabbayi in the election,” he said.
