When was the last time you visited a library or borrowed a book from library?

Considering the inconvenience of visiting a library or buying a book from a book stall, Sahitya Bharathi Book Shop, Chikkadpally has launched its ‘Book on wheels', a mobile book stall offering wide variety of books in the city. Carrying novels, short stories books, biographies, devotional books etc, the van will travel in different residential colonies and offer books for sale. Readers can pick their books and even avail ten per cent discount on every purchase, says D. Samba Siva Rao of Sahitya Bharathi Book Shop. The objective is to inculcate book reading among city dwellers, besides promoting Telugu literature. Lot of effort has gone into selecting books to be offered through this van. It carries about 500 books and some of them are rare books, he says.

“Apart from selecting books, efforts were put in for designing the van. Limca Book of Records winner K. Sudhakar, who is known for designing and making cars with innovative ideas has designed the van,” says Mr. Rao.

The mobile van was launched by well-known writer Yandamoori Veerendranath at Sri Krishna Devaraya Andhra Basha Nilayam here on Saturday.
