Power consumers in the limits of the CPDCL Falaknuma sub-station spent anxious moments from noon up to late in the night on Tuesday, due to sporadic blackouts and voltage fluctuations which threatened to damage their power appliances.

The blackouts began around 3 p.m. and prevailed for about half-an-hour to one hour each time. The power supply, when restored, fluctuated violently, only to go off after some time, reported residents around Falaknuma.

Areas affected by the power fluctuations included Jangammet, R.N.Colony, Rajannabowli, and G.M. Chowni among others. “There was absolutely no information and our attempts to call the Fuse-Off-Call Centre and the Assistant Engineer concerned failed, as neither of them took the calls. We were tensed up as the voltage fluctuations could cause accidents or damage the power appliances,” informed a resident from Falaknuma.

When contacted, the Central Breakdown officials said that one feeder in the Falaknuma sub-station developed snags, and that the team was looking into the problem. They could not zero in on the snag when last heard.
