: A special drive was conducted by the City Police for the removal of black film (sun control film) from the rear screen and windows of cars at the Police Stadium here on Friday.
The Supreme Court has ordered the removal of sun control film on the front and rear windscreens and side windows of cars.
No black film or any other film should be stuck on the safety glasses of motor vehicles.
Police Commissioner J. Purnachandra Rao said in implementation of the court orders, nearly 4,000 cases were booked and Rs.17 lakh collected as compounding fee from erring motorists and the black film was removed from the vehicles during the last two months.
The police with the help of car decor managements conducted the drive at the Police Stadium and also at Lanka ground at Gajuwaka on Friday for removal of black film at a nominal cost.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) V. Suresh Babu said the black film was removed from 505 cars during the special camp.
