Devotees thoroughly frisked

Black day, which is observed in connection with the demolition of Babri Masjid, passed off peacefully at Tirumala amid deployment of armed police at all vulnerable points in and around the temple.

Devotees entering the Vaikuntam queue complex for the darshan of the presiding deity – Lord Venkateswara were thoroughly frisked and their baggage checked.

The armed personnel stood guard since Thursday morning in front of the main entrance of the temple.

As a security measure, the TTDs vigilance and security personnel along with the local police also carried out night patrolling on Wednesday.

There was additional deployment of forces at Alipiri security point – the threshold of the hill town.

Surveillance was also stepped up on the footpath leading to Tirumala as well as on both the ghat roads.
