The Bharatiya Janata Party women's wing activists have prepared and cooked the ‘Sakinalu', the Telangana hot savoury, specially made for the Sankranti festivities, on the road at Telangana chowk demanding formation of separate Telangana State, in Karimnagar on Thursday.

Unique designs

The activists, led by Sujatha Reddy and others, arrived at the spot and prepared the ‘Sakinalu' and made shapes of “Jai Telangana” and replica of Telangana thalli statue. They cooked the same on fire and served to visitors. BJP district president M. Arjun Rao, BJP Kisan Morcha national secretary P. Sugunakar Rao and others were also present.

The pro-Telangana activists, including Telangana JAC leaders, made a vain bid to enter the TDP office and ransack the furniture.

The protesters initially informed the police that they would stage a dharna in front of the residence of Manakondur legislator A. Mohan demanding his resignation. Suddenly, they diverted the attention of police and rushed towards the TDP office and gained entry into the premises.

However, the police rushed to the spot and avoided destruction of the furniture and other office records and equipment. The police physically lifted the protesters and took them to the police station.

Advocates organised ‘mulakat' programme with Karimnagar legislator G. Kamalakar appealing him to resign to his post for the cause of Telangana State by submitting a memorandum and flowers in ‘Gandhigiri' style.
