Former Sikkim Governor and BJP national executive member V. Rama Rao has described the ruling Congress-led UPA government as the ‘most corrupt government since Independence'.
Participating in a meeting of the BJP ward committee presidents and office-bearers here on Friday, he said the scams that occurred during the UPA rule were huge in magnitude.
The 2G Spectrum scandal involved a mind boggling Rs.1.75 lakh crore and the Commonwealth Games fiasco was worth Rs.70,000 crore.
Members of Parliament and Ministers were indicted and sent to jail, he said. Mr. Rama Rao said people were inclined to bring back the BJP to power in the Lok Sabha elections in 2014.
Assessments being made in America and China suggest that the BJP will be the winning party in the next general elections, he said.
The BJP national executive member called upon the local leaders to strengthen the party committees in the city at the municipal ward level.
Party national executive member Kambampati Haribabu said a book published on formation of separate Andhra would be released at Kakinada on December 9.
He said BJP leaders and activists from all the districts of Andhra would attend the meet.
BJP city president M. Nagendra, BJP former State president P.V. Chalapati Rao, State general secretary Ravindra Raju and the party state vice-presidents Bandaru Ranga Mohana Rao and Yadlapati Raghunatharao participated.
