The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national secretary Nallu Indrasena Reddy demanded that the government should enhance minimum support price (MSP) for cotton to Rs.7,000 as announced last year.

‘MSP reduced'

Speaking to media persons at BJP district office here on Monday, he said that this time government has reduced MSP for cotton to Rs.3,500 to Rs. 4,000 though there was 30 percent fall in the production of cotton when compared to previous year.

Indrasena Reddy was here to call on the family members of N. Rajeshwar Reddy, the MLA, who died recently of cardiac arrest.

‘Double standards'

He alleged that the MSP for cotton this year was reduced by the government in collusion with businessmen.

Indrasena Reddy made a scathing attack on elected representative of Congress party for their double standards with regard to the Telangana issue.

He said that Telangana Ministers, MPs and MLAs of the Congress were participating in Telangana movement only for their existence. If they have sincerity on Telangna issue, they must undertake agitation programme in front of the residence of their party chief Sonia Gandhi and should continue it till she conceded for separate State.

The BJP leader demanded the Central government to introduce Telangana bill in the Parliament in ensuing winter session and same would be supported by his party, he said.

BJP district president Rantang Pandu Reddy, other party leaders R. Ramulu and Padmaja Reddy were also present on the occasion.
