The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Adilabad district was upbeat on Thursday following the win of party candidate Yennam Srinivas Reddy in the by-election to Mahabubnagar Assembly constituency.

The win means the party's policies continue to be approved by the people at large, claimed Bharatiya Janata Party leaders in the district.

Addressing a press conference, Bharatiya Janata Party district president Ravula Ramnath, general secretary Durgam Rajeshwar and others said people from across the political spectrum now wanted to join the Bharatiya Janata Party. “I am receiving calls from leaders and common people alike who wish to join our party following the Mahabubnagar by-election,” Mr. Ramnath claimed.

The issue of new entries in the party would be discussed by the core committee soon, the district Bharatiya Janata Party president said. He said the party would take up a programme in support of Telangana at New Delhi in near future.

Mr. Ramnath denied the use of communal card by his party in the Mahabubnagar election.

He said people only voted for the party and its stand on Telangana.
