Claims non-political groups supporting Telangana statehood keen on truck with BJP
Calls electoral understanding between CPI(M), TDP `opportunistic'`People should be told the reasons for the parties coming together'TRS asked to name party it will support in its quest for separate State
HYDERABAD: Bharatiya Janata Party will finalise its election strategy and the number of seats to contest in the panchayat elections at the office-bearers' meeting here on Thursday.
K. Laxman, general secretary, told a press conference on Wednesday that the party would contest more seats in Telangana where `it has a stronger presence.' For the last three days, BJP leaders had toured all districts and found the cadres to be very enthusiastic about the party's decision to fight the polls on its own.
Mr. Laxman claimed that some non-political groups supporting Telangana statehood were keen to have seat adjustments with BJP. He called the electoral understanding reached between CPI (M) and Telugu Desam `opportunistic.' Even a chameleon would be put to shame at change in the stands of the two parties, which were at loggerheads till recently, he said.
Wondering if there was any change in TDP's economic policy, he said people should be told the reasons for the parties coming together.
The BJP leader alleged that CPI (M) and TDP were joining hands to dilute BJP's pro-Telangana agitation.
He asked the Telangana Rashtra Samiti to name the party it would support in its quest for formation of separate State.
