NELLORE: Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on Sunday said there was no consistency on the part of the BJP on separate Telangana.

Taking exception to the BJP's promise that it would grant statehood to Telanagana in four months should it be voted to power, the Chief Minister wondered how it could do so in the existing political scenario. "When it was in power, the BJP had completely ignored the issue and no body will now trust its latest promise," he claimed.

"Ironically, it was the BJP, which brought the issue of a separate Telangana in the State through the popular slogan: One vote two states. But subsequently, it made a somersault in the wake of its alliance with the TDP on the ground that Telangana was not part of the NDA agenda," he told reporters.

Earlier, he laid foundation stones for the Somasila Swarnamukhi Link Canal (SSLC) and various other developmental programmes at Rapur.
