VIJAYAWADA: Holding the Congress and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) responsible for the present turmoil in the State, the city unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday made it clear that the BJP was committed to its age old slogan of ‘One Vote and Two States’ and that was the reason behind its support to the ‘Separate Telangana’ and ‘Jai Andhra’ movements.

Addressing a press conference here, president of the BJP’s city unit Laka Vengala Rao Yadav said that anarchy was ruling the roost in the State for the last one month due to the “unclear and improper” stands taken by the Union government. “The Central government has made two different statements that created lot of confusion among the people of the State. As the statements were contrary to one another, the State witnessed several agitations in all the three regions,” he said.

Refuting the charges by Congress and TDP leaders against BJP of its “dual stand” on Telangana, Mr. Yadav said the BJP was the only party which was very clear about formation of smaller States.

Party’s State committee member L.V.R.K. Prasad and other leaders were present.
