Chintala flays State’s attitude towards price rise

‘Cabinet sub-panel met once to discuss cement prices’

HYDERABAD: Protesting against the failure of the government in containing prices, the Greater Hyderabad unit of the BJP will organise a dharna at the Chief Rationing Officer’s office on May 2

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Chintala Ramachandra Reddy, president of Greater Hyderabad BJP, criticised the callous attitude of the government towards prise rise and said it reflected the fact that the Cabinet sub-committee, constituted to give a report, had met only once to discuss cement prices and that too without any positive result.

One of the Ministers was on a foreign trip while the others had no time to discuss the spiralling prices of essential commodities. Interestingly, the Chief Minister asked the committee to submit its report within a week, he said. Mr. Reddy said the government woke up too late to announce that palm oil and pulses would also be supplied through the fair price shops.

Panel announced

Mr. Reddy announced the Greater Hyderabad committee that included eight vice-presidents, two general secretaries and 11 secretaries.

He said the committee consisted of 14 persons from BCs, three from SCs and the remaining from other communities. The new office-bearers include B. Shyam Sunder Goud, V. Varalakshmi, Prakash Reddy, Ranga Raju Goud, M.C. Jagadish, Akkala Naidu, Prem Raj, Devara Karunakar and T. Sujana (Vice Presidents) , B. Venkata Reddy and Bal Lingam (general secretaries). Govind Rathi will be treasurer.

He said D. Bhaskara Reddy would be the Yuva Morcha president, while K. Ramulu would be the Dalit Morcha president. Mohd. Athiq was the new Minority Morcha president and D. Vijayanath Secretary (press).
