Activists belonging to the BJP Telangana udyama committee, Karimnagar unit, staged a dharna in front of the Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar office on Thursday demanding that the municipal authorities take measures to provide basic amenities to the residents.
Expressing concern over the damage to the roads due to recent incessant rains and faulty execution of underground drainage works, the BJP leaders said that the town had turned into a breeding place for mosquitoes and causing several diseases. They demanded that the authorities launch a drive against the mosquitoes by taking up anti-larval and fogging operations.
They also alleged that several localities were not having streetlights and the authorities were not fixing new lights. They also found fault with the municipal authorities for supply of murky waters through drinking water taps. BJP Kisan Morcha national secretary P Sugunakar Rao and others were present.
