National BJP secretary K. Lakshman on Wednesday demanded Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy to send a report to the Centre on Telangana after convening the Assembly and adopting a resolution favouring statehood for the region.
At a press conference here, he criticised the Chief Minister for being ‘indifferent' to the nine-day general strike in which all sections of people were participating peacefully despite facing hardships. He accused Mr. Reddy of ‘conspiring' to weaken the strike, Ministers of adopting ‘double standards' on the issue and both the Congress and Telugu Desam of ‘cheating' the people of Telangana.
He condemned the lathicharge and opening of teargas on Osmania University students, use of police to break the SCCL strike and involving them in running APSRTC buses in Hyderabad. He criticised Congress leader Renuka Chowdary for her observations on the Telangana agitation. Dr. Lakshman called upon the people to target MPs and MLAs from the region and force them to quit posts and join the agitation.
