Jaya Rao Polimera will be ordained as the second Bishop of the Diocese of Eluru, at a function at St. Xavier School here on Thursday at 9 am. The Bishop-elect will be taken in a procession from Amalodbhavi Cathedral to the venue for the Episcopal ordination. Arch Bishop Salvatore Pennacchio, Apostolic Nuncio to India, New Delhi, Prakash Mallavarapu, Arch Bishop of Visakhapatnam and Apostolic Administrator of Eluru Diocese, Dr. Gali Bali, Bishop of Guntur, will take part in the Episcopal ordination function. The 48-year-old Jaya Rao Polimera was appointed the second Bishop of the Diocese of Eluru after the death of the first Bishop John Mulagada. Hailing from Dharmasagar in Warangal district, he joined the diocese of Warangal and graduated in Philosophy and Theology from St. John’s Regional Seminary, Hyderabad. Jaya Rao was ordained priest in April, 1991. With a little over two decades of his priestly journey in different capacities, Jaya Rao developed a strong passion for Karnatic and classical music also. He served as the Director, Arunodaya Youth Centre in Warangal and Associate Pastor, Kalamazoo parish in Michigan State, USA.before his elevation as the Bishop of the Eluru Diocese.
