For the young Manisha, Kishore and Ganesh it was a birthday celebration worth remembering for many years for it had a unique message to the society. They were among the 23-special children belonging to orphanages and poor families who celebrated their most-cherished day amidst fun and frolic at the Child Aid Foundation (CAF) at Patamata Lanka on Thursday. This novel idea was given shape by the youth wing of Amma Bhagawan Seva Samithi which was met with huge success. “We do not want them to feel that they were rejected by the society. All the children, who celebrated their birthday, were born in the month of January and we intent to celebrate the birthday of other children in the following months on a Sunday,” said C.S. Srinivas, a member of the samithi.

Amidst 400-odd children of CAF, the birthday kids cut cakes while the fellow-children crooned “happy birthday to you”. “We offered them balloons, biscuits, beverages, books, pens and pencils, and accessories that go with the celebrations such as a crown and facemask to make them happy. We were moved by the huge smiles on their faces,” said Ms. Praveena, a member from Bangalore.

The joy of the kids multiplied when they witnessed the celebrations live on the huge screen beamed by a projector. “This gesture will go a long way giving them the necessary self confidence and determination to face the complex society,” said a member. Around 20 members of the samithi interacted with the children. . “We have also conducted a medical camp earlier and we are planning to organise a homeopathy camp for the children of lesser privileged,” said a member. Child Aid Foundation's Srinivas appreciated the gesture of the Amma Bhagawan Seva Samithi.
