Writer and social reformer Gurazada Appa Rao's 150th birth anniversary was celebrated in a befitting manner by litterateurs at Ananda Gajapathi auditorium here on Wednesday.

Additional Joint Collector M. Rama Rao, who was the chief guest, said that Gurazada strove for promotion of Telugu language and everyone must read his books.

Awareness

He suggested constitution of an organisation with litterateurs as members for creating awareness among youth on his writings. Earlier, Mr. Rama Rao participated in a procession that was taken out from Gurazada's house and garlanded his statue at Maharajah's (Autonomous) College along with a number of writers and poets, who included U.A.V. Narasimha Murty, Vedagiri Rambabu, Poranki Dakshina Murty, and DPRO V. Maniram.
