Governor of Tamil Nadu K. Rosaiah launched a bi-monthly children’s magazine called ‘Shruti’ in Telugu published by the Shruti Foundation here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, he stressed the need for children’s magazines which provide children with information about our culture, heritage and moral values as the present day education was completely engrossed with subject-oriented knowledge.

In the past, children would be told about our culture and heritage mostly by their grandparents.

As the society underwent changes, nuclear families began appearing and grandparents lost their place in modern-day families denying children the opportunity to get moral education and knowledge about our heritage and culture, Mr. Rosaiah said.

Chairman of Shruti Foundation V.K. Agarwal stated that the foundation was formed as a trust to promote, enhance and spread the knowledge about Indian culture, heritage and values.
