The Andhra Pradesh Rytu Sangham on Sunday alleged discrimination in the payment of compensation of Rs.6,000 per hectare for crop loss, following the unseasonal rains and floods, as announced recently by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy.

In a statement, K. Ramakrishna, president, said the compensation was being extended for the crop loss sufferd in November at the rate of Rs.4,500 per hectare, as against Rs.6,000 paid last month. He alleged efforts were on by the ruling party activists and middlemen to pocket funds, as transparency was lacking in making payments. He demanded all-party conferences at the mandal level to ensure that the compensation at the announced rate was paid for the crop loss sustained in November.
