KURNOOL: The decks have been cleared for formal association of Telugu Desam former MP Bhuma Nagi Reddy and his wife Sobha Nagireddy with the new political outfit being launched by actor Chirajeevi. The couple will hold a crucial meeting with their close aides at Allagadda in Kurnool district on Friday. When asked about the rumours of their quitting TDP, Mr. Nagireddy told The Hindu that he was going to hold the meeting with his followers on Friday and announce his future plans at Kurnool on Saturday.
“I will not say anything until I speak to my well-wishers and followers,” he said. Meanwhile, supporters of Mr. Nagireddy said even though the couple commanded considerable respect and clout in the TDP, they were under the impression that their base might erode in Allagadda if Chiranjeevi party was launched, where Balija population is a big force. By joining hands with Chiranjeevi, Mr. Nagireddy believes that the two major communities of the area-Reddy and Balija-will back him wholeheartedly. Meanwhile, the family members of Mr. Nagireddy also confirmed the resignation of the couple in a few days. S.V. Subba Reddy, former Minister and father-in-law of Mr. Nagireddy said he would continue in the TDP in spite of his daughter and son-in-law’s exit from the TDP.
