With just a little over two months left for the celebration of Sri Rama Navami festivities, the authorities of the historical Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple in Bhadrachalam have focussed their attention on the development of Mithila Stadium, the venue of the annual mega religious fete - Sri Sitarama Kalyana Mahotsavam.

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has sanctioned Rs. 2 crore for development of the stadium during his visit to the temple town on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami in April last year.

Almost ten months after the Chief Minister’s assurance, the authorities have initiated steps to take up the development works like roofing of the galleries in the stadium.

The development works were initiated at an estimated cost of Rs. 2 crore in tune with the long felt need for provision of improved amenities to the devotees at the stadium, the venue of the celestial wedding.

The development works are intended to create additional seating space with roofing for accommodating nearly 35,000 devotees in the stadium.

The works on roofing of the galleries in the stadium have commenced, said the temple executive officer K. Ramachandra Mohan. All the development works in the stadium will be completed much before the forthcoming Sri Rama Navami festival, he added.
