Residents of Begumpet village in Kamanpur mandal bid a tearful adieu to Amrutha Ravikumar (25), who succumbed to serious injuries sustained in the twin blasts in Hyderabad on February 21. He died while undergoing treatment in Yashoda Hospital on Tuesday night.

Ravikumar, who had completed his MBA, had joined a coaching institute in Hyderabad to secure a job in the Police Department as a sub-inspector of police. He was also doing a part-time job in a private firm.

Friend dies immediately

On that fateful day, Ravikumar along with his friend Tirupathi, of Somanpalli village of Ramagundam mandal, arrived in Dilsukhnagar to purchase some books. Tirupathi died on the spot.

Ravikumar’s body was brought to the village on Wednesday evening for the last rites to be performed.

Anti-terrorist slogans

Begumpet village, once a stronghold of Maoists naxalites, reverberated with the slogans against terrorists. Villagers arrived in large numbers to participate in Ravikumar’s funeral procession. Students also took out processions against terrorism in the village.

Ravikumar’s father, a retired Singareni employee, died some years ago. His mother and elder brother wept even as villagers tried to console them.

BJP leader Sashibushan Kache, TRS leader Ganta Ramana Reddy, YSRC leader Putta Madhu and others visited the village.
