Beeram Venkateswara Reddy of the ruling Congress was elected Chairman of the Prakasam District Cooperative Marketing Society (DCMS) here on Wednesday.

Election Officer Indira Devi, also District Cooperative Audit Officer, announced Mr. Reddy's election unanimously to the post as only one nomination was received.

Ch. Nagul from S.N. Padu was coopted for the Director’s post in the ST category.

K. Srinivasulu from the BC community was elected unanimously as DCMS vice-chairman.

The election of DCMS functionaries originally scheduled for Tuesday was postponed to Wednesday for want of quorum.


The elected functionaries were felicitated by, among others, Edara Mohan and Belam Satyanarayana, both strong contenders for the post of chairperson of the District Central Cooperative Bank.

The DCCB elections originally scheduled for Monday, were postponed by 10 days by the High court, on a petition praying for holding of elections to PACs where the polls had been stayed before the DCCB polls.
