Hyderabad: Summer is here and what better than beating the heat with cool cotton clothing. And when these come with an ethnic chic touch, it also helps you make a style statement. A wide variety of cotton garments are up for grabs at the Cotton mela at the Lepakshi Handicrafts Emporium (LHE) in Gunfoundry.
The entire range of cotton material for both men and women - shirts, kurta’s, dress materials, sarees, salwar kameez are there as also Kashmiri shawls, ‘pawda’ - traditional skirt attire for girls. In fact, there is something for everyone here.
“A variety of cotton clothes are being sold at the fair. We have dress materials from Venkatagiri, Gadwal, Narayanavaram, Siddipet, Kalamkari and Pochampally from our State”, said, Manager, LHE, and G.V.V. Satyanarayana. “Coimbatore, Bengal printed and cotton sarees, khadi shirts, kurtas are some of the other things that have been put up for sale and all the goods have a 20 per cent discount on them”, he said.
Easy on the purse
The prices too are not high and are sure to suit any purse. For example, a cotton dress material starts from Rs. 300 to Rs. 500; a salwar kameez is priced between Rs. 475 and Rs. 950. Another sort of ethnic wear is the Jaipuri Lakhi pyjama which starts from Rs. 125 going upwards to Rs. 350.
The store also houses a modern art gallery which showcases canvas oil paintings, works with water colours and art prints with colourful natural sceneries, figures of gods and goddesses, not to mention, abstract art which starts from Rs. 135 and goes up to Rs. 25,000.
