TRS stages demonstrations at district Collectorates demanding steel plant for the region
The TRS party workers staged a demonstration at the district Collectorate opposing the State government’s move allocating the iron ore mines in Warangal and Khammam to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant here on Friday.
Raising slogans ‘Bayyaram ukku Telangana hakku’ they said the iron ore of Telangana should be utilised here in the region by setting up a steel plant.
They said the plant would bring development and provide employment to the local youth.
The TRS leaders vowed that they would oppose the move and would not allow the ore to be transported to other region at any cost. They demanded that the State government cancel its order keeping in view the sentiments of local people.
speaking to the press persons, TRS MLA Thatikonda Rajaiah accused Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy of acting like an autocrat regarding Bayyaram mines issue. The Chief Minister who was aware that the Congress would not come to power in next elections has plotted to loot such mineral wealth, he alleged.
The iron ore spread in 1.40 lakh acres of area of Karimnagar, Khammam and Warangal districts and could be explored for 200 years. Another MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhasker said the estimated worth of iron ore in the region to be Rs. 16 lakh crores.
The government should set up a steel plant at Bayyaram in the region and make use of the mineral wealth for the development of the region.
The district president T. Ravinder Rao said that a series of programmes like post card campaigns, signature campaign, rallies and dharnas would be taken up across the ten Telangana districts. On May 14 rallies will be taken out at all mandal headquarters.
Party MLA Mogulari Bikshapathi, leaders Peddi Sudharshan Reddy, Mohammed Nayeemuddin, K Sambaiah, Dr. Parameshwar and others took part in the demonstration.
Karimnagar Staff Reporter adds: Demanding that the government establish a steel plant at the Bayyaram iron ore site in Khammam district, TRS floor leader in the Assembly Etala Rajender has said that they would not allow the snatching away of Telangana natural resources to the Seemandhra region.
Participating in a dharna programme in front of Collectorate, Mr. Rajender alleged that the Telangana region was deprived of development on all fronts in united Andhra Pradesh state. He charged that the Seemandhra leaders snatched away jobs, water and mineral resources from Telangana.
Threatening to intensify the agitation demanding the setting up of steel plant in Bayyaram, he said that they would conduct rallies in all mandal headquarters on May 14. He said that they would also conduct a padayatra from Karimnagar to Khammam district in the first week of June.
The setting up of steel plant in Bayyaram would ensure employment to the local youth and help in setting up other allied industries in the region, he added.
Mahabubnagar Correspondent writes: TRS activists organised a dharna at Telangana chowk protesting against the allocation of iron ore to VSP.
Mahabubngar MP Jithendar Reddy TRS MLA from Kollapur Jupally Krishna Rao, TRS district co-convener Bekkam Janardhan, Dr.Amarendar and others also participated.
Medak Staff Reporter adds: Demanding that the State government establish a steel factory to use the locally available iron ore at Bayyaram in Khammam district, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) held a dharna before the Collectorate in Sangareddy. Large number of party activists participated in the agitation.
Party district in-charge Rajaiah Yadav, former legislators M. Padma Devender Reddy, S. Ramalinga Reddy, party leaders Deshapathi Srinivas, Y. Srinivas and others have participated in the programme.
Addressing the workers, the TRS leaders said that they would not allow transporting iron ore to steel factory at Visakhapatnam.
Nizamabad Staff Reporter adds: The TRS activists staged a dharna before the Collectorate demanding the Government scrap the G.O issued to allot the iron ore from Bayyaram mines to VSP.
