In spite of the Drugs Control Administration called back banned drugs worth Rs. 37 lakhs from the market, stocks of these drugs are still available in the market and the manufacturers are not taking steps to recall the drugs, Assistant Director of DCA R. Uday Bhaskar said on Wednesday. Formulations of nimesulide, cisapride, phenylpropanolamine and human placental extract have been banned. Mr. Uday Bhaskar directed the manufacturers and distributors to immediately call back the stocks of banned drugs and the chemists and hospitals to off-rack the drugs. Legal action would be taken against those distributing and selling the banned drugs, he said.
