Rajahmundry: The bandh call given by TDP and Left parties on Friday evoked good response in urban areas, where as it was partial in rural areas. TDP and Left party leaders were involved in closing some of the shops and establishments in few areas.

BJP and TDP workers held rail roko in Rajahmundry. However there was no untoward incident reported from any part of the district.

Reports from Tuni, Jaggampeta, Peddapuram, Amalapuram, Ravulapalem and other areas stated that there was mixed response to bandh. TDP leaders held rallies in Amalapuram and also rasta roko, protesting against petrol, diesel price hike. Former ministers Metla Satyanarayana, Chikkala Ramachandra Rao, TDP district president and MLC N. Chinna Rajappa and others led rallies and dharna in Amalapuram. In Ravulapalem, protesters blocked traffic on National Highway for more than one hour.

In Rajahmundry, BJP workers stopped Howrah-Chennai mail for more than 20 minutes and TDP workers stopped Simhadri express. TDP town president Adireddy Apparao, senior leader Ganni Krishna others led workers in organising rallies. Left party leaders Meesala Satyanarayana, Apparao and others led rally from CPI office and held a dharna at Delux centre. CPM workers lay seized to RTC bus stand in the morning.
