Protesters stage rally demanding withdrawal of distinvestment proposal
JEYPORE: The bandh called in Dhamanjodi by Biju Janatadal Koraput district unit protesting the 10 per cent disinvestment in National Aluminium Company (NALCO) evoked a good response on Monday.
NALCO labour unions supported the bandh and the refinery and bauxite mine works remained closed. All trains coming to Dhamanjodi were stopped by BJD led by district president Pottangi Jayaram Pangi. Meanwhile, 1,000 bottles of country liquor was seized and destroyed by the police in Koraput Town area recently.
One killed in accident
One person was killed and another seriously injured in a road accident when a motorcycle collided with an RTC bus here recently. Ramakrishna Pradhan died on the spot while Harikrishnawas admitted to Jeypore Government Hospital.
