KHAMMAM: Coal mining operations in the entire Singareni Collieries area spread over four districts were near normal barring three mines and the corporate office in Kothagudem, according to the SCCL General Manager Personnel, M. Gangi Reddy.
He informed that some 600 employees, workmen and executives of the Company were prevented by the agitators from attending their duties at the main office in the coal town.
Despite police bandobust, they stayed away from work so as to avoid confrontation.
The agitators campaigned vigorously at three mines - Venkatesh Khanai (VK 7 incline), Padmavathi Khani (five shaft) and Goutham Khanai open cast mines in Kothagudem and forced the workers to join the bandh.
It resulted in production loss of some 20,000 tonnes in the day.
The coal workers attended duties as usually in Manuguru, Sathupali and Yellandu areas in the district.
The SCCL mines had normal operations in both the first sift and second shift in Adilabad, Karimnagar and Warangal districts, he added.
