Desiya Murpoku Dravida Kazhagam (MDMK) chief Vijayakanth on Thursday said the controversy surrounding over the release of Kamal Hassan’s film ‘Viswaroopam’ was unfortunate.
Talking to media persons the actor-turned politician Vijayakanth said that it was ridiculous to learn that the mega budget film which experienced a smooth release in other States kicked-up a controversy in Kamal’s home State.
“I am being confronted with several conflicting versions including the denial of rights of the trilingual film to a TV channel close to the ruling party and the alleged remarks by Kamal Hassan at a function wherein he reportedly expressed his desire to see a Tamil man clad in dhoti in the Prime Ministerial berth apparently referring to the Union Minister P. Chidambaram as the reasons that led to the ban. I know not as to how far these are true. Once I am acquainted with the facts I will let you know my reaction,” he said.
Earlier, he offered prayers at the hill temple in the wee hours of today.
