Says Purandeswari failed to come to rescue of Bengal gram farmers
ONGOLE: Actor N. Balakrishna fired salvos as expected against his sister and Union Minister D. Purandeswari and brother-in-law and Perchoor MLA D. Venkateswara Rao when he visited their native village Karamchedu on the last leg of his tour in Prakasam district on Tuesday.
Mr. Balakrishna, who made a night halt at Chirala on Monday, began his roadshow from Karamchedu.
Addressing a meeting held a few feet away from the residence of Dr. Venkateswara Rao, he criticised the local MP and MLA for “keeping quiet” when the UPA Government renamed NTR airport in Hyderabad after Rajiv Gandhi, which he said undermined the self-respect of the Telugus.
Travelling through Karamchedu, Inkollu, Perchoor and other villages with predominant Kamma population, Mr. Balakrishna blamed Ms. Purandeswari for letting down Bengal gram farmers.
He pointed out that the farmers suffered heavy losses because of her.
He said that the Union Minister had advised them to hold their stocks with a promise that she would help them get a better price for their produce.
As she failed in the endeavour, the price declined further causing immense loss to the farmers who held the stocks, he alleged.
He was given a tumultuous welcome in all the villages and he rode a bullock cart in Karamchedu.
He twirled his moustache to regale the crowd.
He dwelt on Telugu pride and how the Congress undermined the self-respect of the Telugus.
He recalled the welfare schemes introduced by NTR to ensure social justice for the poor.
He narrated as to how the State witnessed development during the nine-year rule of Chandrababu Naidu and exhorted the people to bring the TDP back to power for a better future.
