Bakrid celebrated with fervour in city

The Id-ul-Azha, the festival of sacrifice, was observed with traditional fervour on Monday in the city.

Muslims offered sacrifice of goats and sheep to commemorate the spirit of sacrifice displayed by Prophet Ibrahim in fulfilling Allah's command.

The Id coincides with the annual Hajj Pilgrimage, the fifth pillar of Islam.

Prayers

Thousands of devotees offered Id prayers at different Idgahs and local mosques.

Biggest congregation

The biggest congregation was seen at the Mir Alam Idgah as a large number of Muslim devotees attend the prayers.

Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) sran special buses to the Idgah to cope up with the heavy rush and traffic police imposed traffic restrictions on the routes going towards the Idgah.
