Targets to capture 40 per cent market share in State
VISAKHAPATNAM: Bajaj Auto Limited aims to capture 40 per cent of the two-wheeler market share in Andhra Pradesh from the present 35 per cent, according to B.K. Senapati, regional manager (two-wheelers) of Bajaj Auto Ltd.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday on the occasion of the launch of Platina, a new 100cc motorcycle, he said that at present the company was selling 12,000 motorcycles a month in the State. He described Platina as a good combination of price, mileage and style.
The vehicle comes in two versions - a base model and a high-end model priced at Rs. 33,990 and Rs. 35,990 respectively (ex-showroom).
Mr. Senapati said Bajaj Auto was by far the market leader in 150cc performance segment of motorcycles with 61 per cent of fourth quarter market share contributed by Pulsar DTS-i twins and Avenger DTS-i.
The Discover DTS-i also led the 125cc segment with 45 per cent market share in the last quarter of 2005-06.
