The one-hour national back-a-thon, which aimed to bring down the illiteracy rate on the occasion of International Literacy Day organised by Make a Difference (MAD) on the Beach Road, drew around 3,000 volunteers across the country on Sunday. The volunteers in the city walked backwards on the occasion to spread the message shouting slogans and carrying placards in which a 59-year-old Jagadishwara Rao also participated.
