As part of the ‘Arrive Alive’ campaign for safer roads launched by the city police an awareness programme is being organised for the students of the Andhra University College of Engineering (Autonomous) on Monday.
Commissioner of Police B. Sivadhar Reddy and Addl DCP Suresh Babu along with an expert trainer from Hyderabad Dheerendra will interact with the students on the college campus between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the programme being conducted by Sri Srinivasa Yamaha along with The Hindu in association with the city police. The trainer will also be holding a training session for the students.
The city traffic police are determined to bring down the incidents of traffic accidents. The department is working in cooperation with citizens, social organisations, intelligentsia, students and institutions to create a much safer road transport for the people of the city, the Police Commissioner said. Noting that on an average 300 to 400 people die everyday due to road accidents, MD of Srinivasa Yamaha V.V. Dasaradha Rami Reddy said that most accidents can be prevented if the drivers are observant, anticipate and react immediately to the situation. Officials including principal AUCE (Autonomous) G. S.N. Raju are expected to participate in the programme on Monday.
