Municipal Commissioner M. Jitendra has said that the ‘Vision for Children’, the programme initiated by the district administration with the support of Goutami Eye Institute, was successfully completed in Rajahmundry.
Mr. Jitendra said on Tuesday said that the municipal corporation took up the programme with the help of Goutami and successfully completed eye screening for all children under the Jawahar Bala Arogya Raksha scheme.
“Eye defects should be detected and corrected at preliminary stage and it is necessary to go for regular check-up at childhood and awareness in this regard is important both in urban and rural areas,” said the Municipal Commissioner.
C. Satyanarayana, General Manger, GAIL, said the company supported Goutami Eye Institute when it came with a project of eye testing and free distribution of spectacles among children under its Corporate Social Responsibility. He appreciated the efforts of Goutami.
K. Madhu, Executive Director of Goutami Eye Institute, said that a total of 20 out 60 mandals in the district were covered under the programme and spectacles were given to the needy children. He said the institute took up the project with the support of the GAIL and thanked its management for their cooperation.
He hoped that GAIL would further support the programme in third phase also.
GAIL HRD Mohan Kondaiah, Danvaipeta Municipal High School headmaster Y. Venugopal, and others participated in the programme.
