VIJAYAWADA: The Rotary Club of Vijayawada has bagged a large number of awards at the presentation of annual awards for 2007-08 organised recently at Kakinada by the governor of Rotary district 3020. Club’s outgoing president G.V. Mohan Prasad and secretary S.V. Vasudeva Rao said at a press conference on Wednesday that the awards received from the Rotary International included ‘significant achievement award’, ‘Rotary public image award’ and ‘presidential citation’. At the national level, ‘special appreciation award for polio eradication activities’ was received. Dr. Mohan Prasad said five awards were received at the district level, and these were ‘best and outstanding president’, ‘best president’, ‘best secretary’, ‘outstanding club in Rotary International’ and ‘best club in Rotary International District 3020’.

In addition, 42 awards were received at the district level. Dr. Mohan Prasad said that the club had taken up a number of activities during his stint that ended on June 30. Special mega medical health camps, drilling of borewells and a number of other charity activities were successfully taken up.
