Two scientists from Tirupati made their home town proud by bagging prestigious awards at the 98th Indian Science Congress held at SRM University campus near Chennai recently.

D. Narayana Rao, Director (Research) at SRM University, who was earlier the Director of ISRO's National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL), Gadanki near here and a professor of Physics at Sri Venkateswara University, received the ‘Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar Memorial Award' from the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

The award was given in recognition of his contribution to atmospheric science.

Similarly, former Vice-Chancellor of SVU Rallapalli Ramamurthi, also from Tirupati, received the ‘Asutosh Mookerjee Memorial Award' at the event, in recognition of his significant contribution to the field of life sciences.
