Manga Devi
N. Manga Devi, founder of Sri Venkateswara Bala Kuteer, has been awarded Avula Jayaprada Devi Memorial Award, for her contribution to the fields of education, literature and social work. The award would be given away at Visakhapatnam on March 8.
Ms. Manga Devi along with Prabhavati established Bala Kuteer in 1965 and developed into one of the excellent model of self learning in Guntur. Inspired by Saint Teresa, she started Chetana at Chowdavaram where 500 children are provided with free education, books and meals. All the programmes at Chetana are being undertaken with financial assistance by alumni and friends of Bala Kuteer.
The award adds one more feather to the long list of accomplishments and awards to Ms. Manga Devi.
