Another driver too `tortured'; duo could not pay rental amount

HYDERABAD: A financier allegedly beat to death a driver to whom he hired out his autorickshaw following a dispute over payment of arrears at L.B. Nagar on Friday. Another driver, who too was confined in a room and tortured by the financier Yadaiah and his friend Jangaiah, was rescued on Saturday, the L.B. Nagar police said.

A murder case was booked against the absconding Yadaiah and Jangaiah. The two drivers, P. Laxmaiah and P. Yadaiah, residents of Karmanghat and distant relatives had taken took two autorickshaws on monthly rent from the financier Yadaiah.

A dispute arose between Yadaiah and the two drivers since the latter reportedly could not pay the Rs. 10,000 rental amount on time. They were supposed to pay the money on Friday but could not. "The duo left the vehicles in the financier's shed on Thursday night and disappeared," the police said.

On Friday morning, the financier went to drivers' houses, took them to the shed, confined them in a room and tortured them, the police said. He locked the room from outside and left. The drivers' families approached the L.B. Nagar police on Saturday morning.

Police broke open the lock only to see Laxmaiah lying dead and Yadaiah in an unconscious state.
