HYDERABAD: An Australian trade delegation led by Warren Truss, Australian Minister for Trade, called on Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy here on Tuesday.

The 63-member delegation consisting industrialists and businessmen was briefed about the conducive atmosphere prevailing in the State for investments. The strides made in the IT field were hailed by the delegation.

Members of the delegation reportedly studied the investment potential and tried to identify areas of cooperation. Mr. Truss explained the growing trade ties with India in the field of mining, jewellery, diamonds and coal.

Mr. Truss termed the visit fruitful and lauded the State's progress in infrastructure and IT fields. He also met Minister for Agriculture N. Raghuveera Reddy, later and was briefed on the irrigation plans of the Government.

John McCarthy, Australian High Commissioner in India and Peter O"Byrne, CEO of the Australian Trade Commission, were part of the team.
