Police arrested Bhoomireddy Narapureddy Brahmananda Reddy of Bidinamcherla in Simhadripuram and Ramana alias Ramanji of Yellanur mandal in Anantapur district, in connection with an attempt on the life of YSR Congress leader Poreddy Prabhakar Reddy on June 9 night and seized a rifle and hunting sickles from them, Jammalamadugu DSP John Manohar told the newsmen.
The DSP attributed the attack to the rivalry between Prabhakar Reddy and Brahmananda Reddy over gaining supremacy in village.
Mr. Brahmananda Reddy’s brother’s sons Chandramohan Reddy, Sarveswar Reddy and Janardhana Reddy and Ramanji opened fire at Mr. Prabhakar Reddy when he was in his farm house, the DSP said.
Later, Mr. Prabhakar Reddy’s followers retaliated and hacked to death Chandramohan Reddy and Janardhana Reddy.
An accused, Sarveswar Reddy, was arrested earlier and the conspirator Brahmananda Reddy and Ramanji were arrested in Yerraguntla, the DSP said.
Veerapratap Reddy, whose licensed revolver was used in the attack, would be nabbed, he said. Kondapuram Circle Inspector Murthy and Muddanur Sub-Inspector Balamaddileti were present.
