Many close down for want of cash as customers go on a shopping spree Many centres in city closed down for want of cash as customers go on shopping spree

HYDERABAD: A last minute rush for Deepavali shopping had its impact on ATM centres in the city with several of them being closed down, unable to dispense cash.

Sign boards saying `No Cash' or `Closed Due To Technical Problems' were seen in front of ATM centres across the twin cities.

Serpentine lines of customers were seen in front of those centres, which still had some cash left.

ICICI ATM centres in Tarnaka, Hyderguda, Himayathnagar and Saidabad, all busy shopping hubs, were not functional.

A couple of ATMs of the HDFC bank were also closed as they ran out of cash. A huge crowd was seen waiting in front of Khairatabad ATM centre of ICICI Bank.

Last minute shopping

"I had to come all the way from Narayanguda because the ATM centre near Ravindra Bharathi was not functioning," said Ramesh Awasthi, one of the many 11th hour shoppers.

ATM centres of State Bank of India in Khairatabad, Himayathnagar and Hyderguda also witnessed similar scenes.
