Rich tributes were paid to the former President and Chief Minister, Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy, during his birth centenary celebrations held at Zilla Praja Parishad meeting hall here on Sunday.

Government Whip Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao said Sanjeeva Reddy’s life was inspirational and steps must be taken to develop the State as he wished.

MLC M.V.S. Sarma said Sanjeeva Reddy was one of the old generation leaders who fought for values. He recalled the crucial role played by Sanjeeva Reddy at the time of formation of Andhra Pradesh and as Chief Minister twice. Two multipurpose irrigation projects Nagarjuna Sagar and Srisailam took shape during the former Chief Minster’s tenure, he recalled. Collector V. Sheshadri recalled Sanjeeva Reddy’s association with Visakhapatnam, one of which was laying foundation stone for the ZP meeting hall on October 20, 1962, at which his birth centenary was being celebrated today.
