ASSOCHAM has stressed the urgent withdrawal of the export-pass fee of Rs. 2,500 per metric tonne of molasses, saying it had made the commodity uncompetitive in the international markets. This was despite the A.P. government permitting export of 10,000 tonnes, said ASSOCHAM Secretary General D.S. Rawat in a press release here on Monday. He said other sugar-producing States including Gujarat, Maharashtra and UP did not charge any such fee. – Special Correspondent
